In an alternate reality, where people are kind and loving and trusting:
One said to another
'Oh please don't go, I'll miss you so. I love you dearly'
The other said
"I'm sorry, I don't want to yell at you and scare you. I feel so claustrophobic and run over, I don't know how to do this"
The first one said
'Oh I wish I knew another way, the pain of here is hard to bear'
The second one said
"I know, it hurts me too. I just don't know how to be there for you"
Pointed fingers stopped pointing. Blame stopped blaming. Pain was laid down even in this upside down town.
And there was just a smidgeon of hope that there might be younger ears to brave a path these two were too battle weary to navigate.
Broken hearts were held with care, no knives to cut them through. The words that needed to be heard were shared from love with hands held strong. A fierceness in a cold wind with brutal skies and so many creatures laying down to die.
They saw it all and touched each other lovingly. For they knew softness was the way. A fierce and beautiful softness, riding up from flames.
So many were drawn to them. Their brutal gentle words heard. Naked feet upon the earth.

It was akin to love, a word long ago forgotten.
